Is the Keto diet a good idea?

Did you know that the ketogenic diet was originally developed to treat epilepsy, and is still used today to manage seizures, particularly in drug-resistant cases?

However, keto has become more known as a weight loss diet - by restricting carbohydrate intake and increasing fat consumption the body shifts from utilising glucose to breaking down fat stores for energy.

While moderating your carbohydrate intake to suit your personal needs is something we support and encourage, at Mission Nutrition we don’t routinely support the use of a keto diet for safe and healthy weight loss as it may have side effects that cause more harm than good and restriction in this way doesn’t align with our approach.

We can help you to understand carbs, and work out how low you can safely go long-term, plus so much more!

Our experienced team take a holistic view and break down the barriers to change, overcome the challenges you face, and help you achieve results that last with a balanced diet and lifestyle.

We encourage mindful, intuitive eating to enable you to create a healthy relationship with your body and food. We will support you in learning to make food choices that will provide nourishment for you and help you feel good, rather than encouraging unnecessary restrictions or calorie counting.
